PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar in the presence of Speaker and Mayem MLA Anant Shet will lay the foundation stone for three major projects in Chodan-Madel in Mayem constituency on May 14.
The main function will be held at Shri Vishnu Devalaya Mandap at Saude where the foundation stone for the work of laying additional conveying main from 800 cu m Mayem reservoir to 800 cu m Chorao reservoir will be laid.
The work is expected to be completed by March 2017. The work costing Rs 5.59 crore will help in providing water to Chorao on daily basis and solve the present shortage problem faced by the village.
Prior to this function, the Minister along with the Speaker will lay the foundation stone for beginning of work of widening and hot-mix carpeting of main road junctions from Madel to Kerem, Carabhat, Conoldem, Belbhat upto Pomburpa ferry point and road leading to GPS Devgim and internal connecting roads in VP Chodan-Madel, to be taken up at a cost of Rs 2.94 crore. The function will be held near Shrikrishna devasthan- Kerem.
The Minister and Speaker will then lay foundation stone for the work of development, strengthening and laying hot-mix bituminous carpet for left out roads at Muddi, Pandavwada, Malewada, Sodetim in VP Chodan-Madel to be undertaken at a cost of Rs 2.24 crore.
The function will be held at Chapel junction at Pandavwada. Speaker Anant Shet will lay the foundation stone for the work of construction of culvert and widening of road near Narvekar house at Sodetim on May 18. The work is costing Rs 1.02 crore.
The Speaker will also lay the foundation stone for the work of development and hot-mixing of existing road at Chamberem, 20 point programme colony and main road to Madel crematorium and improvement to crematorium and open space in the colony under the Scheduled Caste Sub Plan at Chamberem, Chodan-Madel.
The work of improvement of the existing roads in ward numbers I & IX at Madel has already been taken up at a cost of Rs 1.09 crore and hot-mixing in expected to commence on May 19 or 20. Hot-mixing of damaged portion of main road at Saude and at Madel is also being taken up at cost of Rs 30 lakh.
Six other minor road works costing around Rs 45 lakh are also at various stages of execution in the village of Chodan-Madel. Thus the total cost of road works being taken up in VP Chodan-Madel is Rs. 9.15 crore.
