Stung by “objectionable” posters on the sacked Delhi minister Sandeep Kumar, the Aam Aadmi Party on Monday alleged that BJP was feeling “jittery” as the AAP was making inroads in the state.
The party said the saffron party was “distracted” people›s attention from pressing issues such as mining, corruption and casinos.
It accused the BJP of “fooling” the public by putting up “objectionable” posters showing Kumar being kissed by a woman with AAP’s symbol on it.
Addressing a press conference here, AAP convener Valmiki Naik alleged that the posters have been put up by the BJP to distract people›s attention from the irregularities in state administration.
“The AAP condemns such cheap tactics. We don’t mind taking valid criticism, but the opponents stooping to such a level and also not revealing their names on the poster is unexpected,” Naik said.
Several posters showing Kumar being kissed by a woman, whose faced has been blurred, have come up in and around Panaji.
Stating that the BJP was stepping up its attack on the AAP, party spokesperson Oscar Rebello said, “One thing which has become clear looking at such tactics is that the opponent is nervous. It has also become clear that BJP has no positive agenda for Goa.”
The AAP has several times challenged the BJP for a debate on mining and tourism. But they have not accepted the challenge and now they are fooling the people with such diversionary tactics, Rebello said.
On the draft tourism master plan, Naik said it has been drafted without undertaking comprehensive public consultation, and demanded a review of the draft plan.
The plan has shown four talukas – Tiswadi, Bardez, Momugao and Pernem – as gaming zones, Naik said calling it as an U-turn of the BJP-led government on the promise of ‘no new licences for offshore casinos’.
