Rally to highlight animal abuse in city on Sept 18

PANAJI
India Unites For Animals (IUFA) is organising a peace rally from Miramar beach to Mandovi ferry wharf from 4 pm to 7 pm on September 18.
The India Unites For Animals is a citizens’ initiative to achieve an inclusive world that compassionately coexists with its animals and nature, inspired by the Indian ideology of Vasudhaïva Kutumbakam (the world is one family) to end all forms of cruelty and abuse of animals, will be launched simultaneously in over 60 cities in India and abroad on September 18, says a press release here.
Animal loving citizens have invited animal friendly responsible citizens, NGOs, party leaders, celebrities and corporates to get the Animals Welfare Bill passed by Parliament. Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act was passed in 1960 and has not been changed since.
A draft Animal Welfare Bill was submitted to the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEFCC) in 2014, but it failed to be presented in Parliament, let alone passing it, says the press release. It is thus demanded that the Animal Welfare Board of India be accorded tribunal status.
