Laying the foundation for yet another regional party, Bharatiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch (BBSM) has finalised the constitution of the new political outfit which will oppose and work to defeat the BJP during the forthcoming assembly elections.
Speaking to the media after chairing a crucial meeting in Cujira, BBSM convener Subhash Velingkar informed that the political cell of BBSM has been tasked with the responsibility of registering the new party.
“The political cell formed under advocate Hrudaynath Shirodkar has been given go-ahead for the registration of the political party. Whatever formalities need to be completed, will be done by the political cell,” he stated.
Velingkar further said that the constitution for the political party was approved during the meeting held on Friday. Responding to a question, he said, “The BBSM will tell Goans whom to vote on October 2. We will give people an alternative to the BJP. This will make things clear.”
Stating that the organisation will wait for the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) to respond, he said, “We have decided to wait till September 30 for MGP’s decision over breaking their ties with the BJP. If we get a positive response from MGP, we will sit across the table and work out the other things.”
Velingkar further informed that Goa Praja Party and Shiv Sena have already extended their support to BBSM. Velingkar, who spearheaded the agitation against financial grants to English medium primary schools, said that BBSM has one point agenda that grants to 132 minority-run English medium primary schools should be discontinued. “Our stand has been consistent. It was the same with BJP in 2012 and is the same now with MGP,” he reiterated.
Intensifying their agitation, BBSM has decided to take ‘Matrubhasha Rakshak Melava’ to the nooks and corners of the state which will also involve a large number of women and youth force to strengthen their agitation.
