PANAJI: Goa Police, probing the case of rape of minor girl allegedly by St Cruz MLA Atanasio (Babush) Monserrate, has stumbled upon some messages (SMSs) revealing communication between Babush and the third accused Rosy Ferros. The SMSs are pertaining to inquires of the victim and her mother and about when they are migrating to their native place, revealed sources.
The SMSs are from April few weeks after the incident of alleged rape of the 16-year-old girl, sources have informed. This was revealed from the transcripts of the messages extracted from the clone copy of the mobile phone of accused Ferros.
According to information, the clone copy of the mobile phone was obtained using the mobile forensic tools at the Cyber Crime police lab, Ribandar.
According to police, it is very clearly evident that both the accused Rosy as well as accused Babush are concerned with the development relating to the victim and her mother, who is the second accused in the case. There are a number of such SMSs in which victim and her mother have been mentioned. Police claimed that it will be much clearer as to what these messages meant only after both the accused are interrogated thoroughly.
It may be recalled that an offence was registered last week on basis of statements given by victim in presence of child welfare committee. The FIR was registered at Panaji police station and subsequently transferred to Panaji women police station. The incident of alleged rape was reported in March this year. First Babush, then mother of the victim and subsequently Ferros was arrested and the trio is currently in police custody.
According to the police, the 16-year-old victim had said that her mother and another woman (Rosy Ferros) whom the victim referred as aunt had delivered her to the accused Babush for sexual exploitation for consideration of Rs 50,00,000. It had come to light that the accused Rosy had introduced the victim and the mother to Babush, and had allegedly mediated the “deal”, sources informed.
