PANAJI: Pre-monsoon activity has started picking up in Goa and the state is expected to receive scattered light rain and thundershowers at isolated places during the next 24 hours.
According to an India Meteorological Department (IMD) official, light rain is likely to occur at isolated places in the state in the next 24 hours. Partly cloudy weather condition is likely to prevail for four subsequent days. However, the actual rain forecast will be announced after May 15.
Following the spell of showers, the maximum temperature in the state will remain within the normal range. On Friday, the city temperature was few notches above normal and was recorded at 34.6 degree Celsius. The temperature for the next five days will be within normal range.
“In the wake of the rainy spell, the weather will turn comfortable and pleasant, especially during nights and early mornings,” the official said.
Meanwhile, unseasonal rain showers brought relief to residents of Salcete taluka from the scorching summer heat on Friday evening. Rain drizzled from 6 pm onwards for nearly four hours. It, however, resulted in power failure at many places.
