Postmortem reveals bite marks on Monica’s body

PANAJI: Monika Ghurde, an independent perfumer and researcher who was allegedly murdered had bite marks on her body. Sources informed that postmortem had revealed bite marks on her shoulder, both the hands and also on one of the breasts. The bite marks appeared to be of human teeth and the matter was referred to a dentist in GMC for analysis.

Sources claimed that it is not clear whether the bite marks are self inflicted or by someone else. “It will be clear on only after we receive the analysis report”, informed a source.

The 21-year-old accused Rajkumar Singh was arrested on Sunday from Bengaluru on charges of allegedly killing Ghurde. Singh is a former security guard at the complex where Ghurde was staying. He was brought to Goa on Monday night and will be produced before a court in Mapusa on Tuesday.

The postmortem report had revealed that Ghurde died due to asphyxia as a result of compression of mouth and neck. However whether there was any sexual assault, the opinion is reserved pending serological examination report. Serology tests will be conducted at the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) Hyderabad.

Ghurde was allegedly killed at her rented apartment at Bella Vista Sangolda. The body of the 38-year-old Ghurde was discovered on Thursday night. The police suspect that the incident could have happened in the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday.

Ghurde was found naked and her hands were tied to the bed, the police said. There are no visible bodily injuries. According to police Singh had worked as a security guard of Bella Vista, the building complex where Ghurde resided, and was fired from the job around two months back following complaints by several residents.
