Experts should decide on MOI issue in consultation with parents: Oscar

PANAJI: Experts and educationists should decide on the  Medium of Instruction (MOI) issue in consultation with parents, said Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) spokesperson Dr Oscar Rebello.

Addressing the media, Dr Rebello said that our stand is clear – the experts’ panel and educationists should decide on medium of instruction in consultations with parents.

The health scheme is good but in the long run, it will create problem for the Goa Medical College and Hospital, which would collapse if most of the cases are referred to the private hospitals, he added.

While replying a volley of questions, he said that the AAP will not align with Shiv Sena for the forthcoming assembly election in the state.

While denouncing in the strongest terms ‘anti-democracy’ statement of Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza,  the Aam Aadmi Party spokesperson said that the Deputy Chief Minister’s comment, that too much of democracy is spoiling Goa, exposes the pro-dictatorship ideological moorings of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Dr Rebello said that at the Centre, the dictatorial functioning of the Modi-led government is well known to the people, and here in Goa too, the dictatorial-style of functioning of BJP government has been witnessed by all Goans.

He said that “the AAP strongly condemns the anti-democratic BJP, which if unchallenged will lead to dangerous repercussions for the citizens’ democratic rights and freedom.”

“The aam aadmi (common man) should have the perpetual right to question and hold accountable their elected representatives and government.  The AAP espouses a model of democracy where every common citizen (aam aadmi) has a greater say and has right to question the way the state is governed,”he added.

On the occasion, Milind Ravindra Gauns from Navelim-Sankhali, Pramod Pandurang Gad from Kudnem-Sakhali and Pramod Gad also from Kudnem joined the AAP.

Gauns, a commerce graduate, is a former director of VKSS, Naveli and has held various positions in the Youth Congress.

He was also active in social-cultural field in Navelim and is a member of Vividha Sports Club and Abhinav Natya Mandal, while Gad is a former panch member of Kudnem panchayat and is cultural secretary of Maheshwar Sports and Cultural Club, Kudnem.
