MARGAO: The fate of Goa Vikas Party (GVP) will be decided on Thursday as the nine-member chief executive committee met on Wednesday to look into the plans of the party chief and former tourism minister Francisco Pacheco alias Mickky of merging GVP with United Goans Democratic Party (UGDP).
It may be recalled that Pacheco had announced possibilities of Goa Vikas Party merging with United Goans Democratic Party as part of ‘ghar wapsi’ ahead of the 2017 elections.
Speaking to reporters, the general secretary of the party Lyndon Monteiro said that the party chief executive committee, which consists of nine members, will be meeting on Thursday on a single-point agenda of merger of the party with the United Goans Democratic Party.
He said as per the constitution of the party, the chief executive committee is empowered to discuss such matters.
Replying to a question if Benaulim MLA Caetano Silva will also attend the meeting, he said the MLA will be a part of the meeting, but the MLA is not part of the CEC.
When asked about the party earlier announcing plans of contesting on all seats, he said “It was the opinion of the party supremo and not the party; hence, I will reserve comments on the issue.”
