MAPUSA : North Goa district mahila Congress and youth Congress held a protest on Friday in Mapusa and burnt the effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi over detention of Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi and non-implementation of one rank one pension scheme.
On Thursday, Rahul Gandhi along with other political leaders was detained by Delhi police and later released over protest related to non-implementation of one rank one pension scheme. Taking the movement ahead, on Friday, the North Goa district mahila Congress and youth Congress organised a demonstration at Gandhi circle where in more than 60 workers of the party participated.
Mahila president of Congress Sunita Vernekar, Swati Kerkar, former minister advocate Chandrakant Chodankar, North Goa coordinator advocate Roshan Chodankar, Sudin Naik, youth president, North Goa youth leader Aston Santa Maria, Aishwarya Salgaokar of Siolim block, Mitali Gadekar of Mapusa block and others were present.
Addressing the gathering, Sunita Vernekar alleged that the BJP-led government is resorting to cheating on the implementation of one rank one pension. “We will not allow dictatorship in the country and we condemn the act of Delhi police and central government,” she said.
