VASCO: Chhath puja was held on Sunday evening at the Baina beach with a great religious fervour. Hundreds of people including women and men besides youngsters thronged the beach for worshipping Lord Sun on the occasion.
For the first time, Chhath Puja was held under auspices of Chhath Puja Samiti, in association with Veteran Soldier Welfare Association. Power Minister Milind Naik was the chief guest on the occasion.

Chhath Puja Samiti president Ved Prakash Singh, vice president Krishan Sharan Singh, secretary P C Chowdhury, treasurer Akhilesh Kumar Sharma, executive committee members Sujit Singh Khalsa, Shiv Prasad Salkar, A K Rai, A K Sharma, Ramji Prasad, Kameshwar Kumar and others were present.
While addressing the gathering, the Power Minister said that the Baina beach, which had remained neglected for the past several years, is being given a facelift.
“The state government will be spending around Rs 5 crore on the beach beautification,”he said.
Salkar, speaking on the occasion, congratulated the executive committee members of
Chhath Puja Samiti for organising the event in a grand way.
He expressed his gratitude to the Power Minister and others for their all out support in making the event a success.
