Hospicio hospital witnessed a few tense moments over confusion of handing over the post mortem of a body who was ‘brought dead’ to the hospital. Tension was defused after the intervention of
Fisheries Minister Avertano Furtado who assured to investigate into the technical legalities which lead to the issue.
Tension sparked off after nearly 200 residents from Davorlim assembled at the hospital and tried to take possession of the body after he was declared brought dead. The family members alleged that the doctor made them run from pillar-to-post to get doctors
certificates, police NoC and other documents to take possession of the body without post mortem.
Medical superintendent Ira Almeida however informed that the person was brought to the hospital by a friend and upon examination he was ‘declared brought dead’. She said under such circumstances, the post mortem has to be conducted, however the family members wanted the body without conducting the post mortem.
