Rane wants Charavane dam work completed

The Leader of Opposition Pratapsingh Rane has demanded that the government should take up the uncompleted work of the Charavane dam by “completing the necessary formalities.”
Rane was addressing Poriyem constituency Congress block committee meeting at his resident at Vithalapur- Sankhali.
He informed the meeting that Chravane dam project was undertaken in 2000.
“The dam work after being completed nearly to the extent of 70% was stopped due to the objection by the Ministry of Environment. It is the need of hour that the state government take up initiative for completion of the formalities so that the project is completed,” he said.
The resolution seeking completion of Charavane dam was passed at the meeting.
The meeting was presided over by Rane.
Poriyem Congress block president Prakash Gaonkar, Sagun Wadkar, Keri sarpanch Ganu Gawas, Poriyem sarpanch Yashawant Naik, ex-ZP member Ashok Gawas were present on the dias.
The resolution seeking completion of the Charvane dam was tabled by Keri zilla panchayat member Fati Gaonkar.
Presently, there is acute shortage of water at Thane and nearby villagers, which are being supplied water through tankers.
“The water problem is likely to occur every year. So, to resolve the problem of water shortage, Chravane dam has to be completed in right earnest,” said Prakash Gaonkar.
Rane informed that the resolution would be submitted to state government for further action.
He also urged the residents of Thane and nearby villages to support the demand.
