MPT employee meets watery grave at Mormugao Harbour

Subhash Kamat (38), a resident of Headland-Sada and an employee of Mormugao port trust met with a watery grave after he accidentally fell into the sea near the cruise berth terminal of MPT at Mormugao Harbour on Saturday morning.
The incident was reported when the deceased was trying to remove a flag which was installed during the berthing of cruise liners at the cruise berth terminal (break water) of MPT. He accidentally fell into the water at around 9 am and went missing.
MPT authorities with the help of Indian Coast Guard and other agencies, started the search and rescue operation, but failed to locate him. The Coast Guard also pressed in their helicopter and a vessel in order to locate the missing MPT employee.
The body was however recovered later in the afternoon at around 1 pm by the agencies involved in the search and rescue operation. The Mormugao police in this connection have registered a case of unnatural death and have sent the body for postmortem. Further investigation is in progress, under the supervision of Mormugao PI Kapil Nayak.
