All India Mahila Congress (AIMC) national president Shobha Oza has said that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) are two sides of a coin and that they have failed to fulfill the aspirations of the people in Goa and Delhi.
She was speaking at a public meeting in Vasco on Saturday evening in view of Jan Jagruti Padayatra, organised by Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC). The meeting was organised by the Vasco block Congress committee, Vasco block women cell committee in association with Mormugao municipal councillor Saifullah Khan.
The meeting was attended by Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president Luizinho Faleiro, Leader of Opposition Pratapsingh Rane, Rajya Sabha MP Shantaram Naik, former chief ministers Digambar Kamat and Francisco Sardinha, All India Congress Committee secretary Girish Chodankar, Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco, M K Shaikh, GPCC women wing president Sunita Verenkar, Savitri Kavlekar, Sneha Fondekar and others.
Speaking further, Oza alleged that the BJP government in the state is like a remote control monitored by the Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar from the Centre.
She maintained that the BJP has put the people to inconvenience by demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes. “None of the businessmen are seen in the queues at banks or ATMs, but it is the common man who is suffering,” said Oza.
GPCC president Faleiro said that the coal pollution in Vasco has remained one of the major issues which the BJP government in the state has failed to resolve during the last four and half years. “Congress will include the coal pollution issue in our assembly election manifesto and ensure it is resolved after getting voted to power,” said Faleiro.
Leader of the Opposition Pratapsingh Rane, former chief ministers Digambar Kamat and Francisco Sardinha, Rajya Sabha MP Shantaram Naik, Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginald Lourenco, MMC councillor Saifullah Khan and others also spoke.
The programme was compered by Famida Khan. Ularico Rodrigues welcomed the gathering while Waman Chodankar proposed the vote of thanks. Meanwhile, a large number of people from Dabolim, Vasco and Mormugao constituencies participated in the Jan Jagruti Padyatra.
