PONDA
Just days after stripping MGP leader of the PWD portfolio, BJP has launched a membership drive in Marcaim constituency which belongs to the former PWD minister Sudin Dhavalikar from Saturday, under the leadership of Taleigao BJP president Dattaprasad Naik.
Marcaim BJP mandal called a press briefing at Ponda to inform about the membership drive in Marcaim and that Bandora panch member Sharmila Lotlikar and her son Sourab Lotlikar have joined BJP at the start of the drive.
Dattaprasad Naik alleged that the present MLA of Marcaim has not carried out much development in Marcaim even though he had an important portfolio. Building compound walls or hot-mix carpeting roads is not development, he said.
He further alleged that for the last few years nothing has been done for youth or regarding their employment. Naik also said that many people from Marcaim had contacted Taleigao BJP to start party work in Marcaim and based on that call the membership drive has been launched.
When asked about Marcaim constituency seat, Naik dodged the question saying the party will decide on it and he has no say in it. “I am here to just strengthen BJP in Marcaim and I am sure that around 8,000 new members from Marcaim will join BJP this month,” he said.
Sourab Lotlikar said that BJP doesn’t depend on its alliance with MGP, it is the MGP which needs a partner to win. He also said that many people from Marcaim are looking for a change.
