PONDA
In yet another scathing attack on the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP), Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar has alleged that the ex-PWD Minister Ramkrishna Dhavalikar was working against the interest of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), particularly in BJP constituencies.
Addressing the Vijay Sankalp Mahamelava in Savitri hall, Curti-Ponda on Saturday night, Parsekar said that the BJP abided by the coalition dharma but MGP didn’t. He furthersaid, “The former PWD Minister played all tactics to defame Parsekar by using his ministry. He made people of BJP constituencies suffer for which the CM is being blamed. When the two MGP leaders crossed their limit, they were sacked.”
Besides Parsekar, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar, Shiroda MLA Mahadev Naik, PMC chairperson Radhika Naik, BJP state president Vinay Tendulkar and others attended the meeting.
Speaking about Ponda, Parsekar said, “We regret for not winning the Ponda seat during the previous election. We might have lacked in our work in Ponda but now many development works are in progress. During the previous elections, it was a BJP-supported candidate in Ponda. There will be a full-fledged BJP candidate this time.”
Parrikar claimed that there is no alternative to BJP in Goa and every other party is aware about this. He also said that Saturday’s meeting at Ponda was pre-planned to support the other party (MGP) but at the last minute changed as a BJP melawa and so BJP will hold another mahamelawa. Speaking about BJP-MGP alliance, Parrikar said that BJP always stayed faithful to its alliance partner and had given two important ministerial portfolios to MGP even after winning 21 seats.
Mahadev Naik foresaw BJP winning at least 26 seats including Ponda on the back of demonetisation move. Ponda Municipal Council chairperson Dr Radhika Naik said by sacking MGP ministers, Parsekar has given PMC a freedom from obstacle in Ponda’s development.
She also said that BJP does not need alliance to win in Ponda and demanded resignation of Ponda MLA Lavu Mamledar.
Many speakers tried to refute allegations made by MGP on BJP. Over thousand people were present at the mahamelava.
