BJP led government has undertaken overall development in terms of infrastructure and social security in the state and hence there is a need for BJP to come back to power with a majority of 26 seats, said Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar while addressing the Vijay Sankalp rally at Mapusa on Tuesday evening.
The rally was attended by Chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar, Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza, Water Resource Minister Dayanand Mandrekar, Calangute MLA Michael Lobo, Aldona MLA Glen Ticlo, Thivim MLA Kiran Kandolkar, MMC chairperson Sandip Falari, councillors and local BJP leaders.
Addressing the rally Parrikar said, during the Congress tenure bridges have taken years to complete but the BJP led government has completed bridges within a shorter time frame.
“Once the BJP government came to power at the centre, the Zuari cable stayed bridge worth Rs 3,000 crore was approved and the work has already started. The bridge will be completed in two years and will have a museum and a revolving restaurant at a height of over 200 metres” said Parrikar.
Commenting on the water problem faced in North Goa, he said that a new water treatment plant will come up at Porvorim which will serve Porvorim, Calangute and Saligao, while the existing water supply will cater to Mapusa, Aldona, Thivim and Siolim.
“In two years we will provide 24 hours water supply to most parts of Goa as the center has approved a project worth Rs 800 crore which will include changing of pipelines to improve the water supply in the state”.
