MAPUSA: Additional district and sessions judge P V Sawaikar on Monday heard the arguments on the second bail plea moved by self proclaimed activist Deepak Gadekar, who was arrested in Calangute dacoity case of Rs 10.20 lakh and orders on his bail plea will be passed on January 5. The court granted conditional bail to three accused Atmaram Malwankar, Gautam Korgaonkar, and Pritesh Agarwadekar who were arrested by Crime Branch in the case.
It may be recalled that businessman Karthik Kotiam, who wanted to exchange Rs 10.20 lakh in new notes for demonetised notes hoping to get Rs 6 lakh extra was allegedly called for a meeting by Gadekar in a hotel at Baga while his four other accomplices were waiting in a car. Gadekar allegedly snatched the bag containing notes and fled the site while his other accomplices tried to kidnap the businessman and his friend in the car but the plan failed.
In this connection, Kotiam had filed a complaint with Calangute police and on December 17, Deepak Gadekar, head constable Keshav Naik and police constable Mahendra Mandrekar were arrested.
Crime branch had arrested three other accused Atmaram Malwankar (31), Gautam Korgaonkar (31), and Pritesh Agarwadekar (21) in this case.
While granting bail to Malwankar, Korgaonkar and Agarwadekar, the court set conditions that they will cooperate in the investigation, will not interfere with evidences or witnesses and will not leave the state without permission of the court and will submit address and others details in case they move out of state. The bail was granted against on personal bond of Rs 20,000 and one surety in like amount.
Advocate Raju Poulekar appeared for all the three accused while public prosecutor Anuradha Talaulikar appeared for the state.
