United Goans Party candidate from Cortalim constituency Ramakant Borkar has said that although a friendly fight is expected between him and Congress candidate, the people will ultimately elect a person based on his past work.
Borkar was speaking to media after filing his nomination papers in Vasco on Monday.
Borkar’s election office was opened at the hands of the president of United Goans Party Uday Madkaikar in the presence of deputy sarpanch of Sancoale Asha Naik, former Sancoale sarpanch Bhojraj Naik and other panch members at Upasnagar.
Addressing the media after filing his nomination papers, Borkar said that his first priority will be to connect Sancoale and slum clusters of Zuarinagar, Birla and Zorint with a sewerage network.
“The people here are facing a health hazard due to the lack of sewerage network,” he said.
He said that he will also be giving priority to solving the garbage issue.
“During the last several years, the garbage issue in Sancoale and other areas of Cortalim has remained unresolved,” he said, adding a permanent solution for the garbage problem is the need of the hour.
Speaking further, he said that his priority would be to resolve the issues of traditional farmers. He said that he would also work to exclude the land listed as private forest.
He also said that he would ensure overall development of slum areas of Zuarinagar, Birla and Zorint, carry out road widening and put a sanitation system in place by taking the people into confidence.
