MARGAO
Stating that Goans are in a revengeful mood against BJP, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) founder and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, on Sunday, appealed to Goans to vote for AAP in the forthcoming election to cleanse Goan politics through the ‘broom’.
Addressing a public meeting at Lohia Maidan in Margao, Kejriwal said that “there is no dearth of money with the government, if the legislators have clear intentions to serve their state. We did it in Delhi, and I promise you that I will do it in Goa. We will provide free water and fifty per cent concession on electricity bill. The 2017 elections are important to end the Congress-BJP secret setting.”
Assuring a thorough investigation into Goa mining scam and arrest of those involved in it, Kejriwal said that “AAP will give Goa a model and sustainable mining if it comes to power.”
“The AAP government’s policies and its implementation will be done with the consent of aam aadmi,” he said, taking a dig at Margao MLA Digambar Kamat.
The chief ministerial candidate Elvis Gomes said that if AAP comes to power, their first priority will be to land all those involved in mining scam in jail. “Our top priority will be to recover Rs 36000 crore of mining scam. We will also resolve the Sonsoddo issue in first six months,” he said. Santosh Raiturkar, AAP candidate of Margao, took potshots at Kamat for not carrying out development in Margao. Fatorda candidate Ranjit Cotta Carvalho alleged that both BJP and Congress are the same.
UGDP president Dr Jorson Fernandes explained why his party is supporting AAP. “We saw no human development in Goa all these years. Today, we have AAP, which we consider it as fighting against corruption. So we decided to extend our support to it,” he said.
