Congress party has expressed confidence that the people of the state will award the party with a full majority to form the next government on its own prowess.
On Wednesday, four former chief ministers of the Congress party, Luizinho Faleiro, Pratapsingh Rane, Ravi Naik and Digambar Kamat, addressed the media in Panaji, on the eve of the campaigning for the ensuing Assembly elections coming to an end.
Faleiro, who is also the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president, said “Today the people of Goa know that after five years of this government, there is no parivartan but palti-vartan and I am confident that we will be able to form the government on our own strength. We are expecting a majority. All the senior leaders are working together to see the victory of the Congress party which will be the victory of the people of Goa.”
Taking a dig at the BJP for failing to implement the Regional Plan, Rane said that the BJP had promised to scrap the RP 2021 and prepare a new one. He said “As soon as we are able to form the government, we will see that the Regional Plan is implemented which was kept on hold. It will be a good tribute to Charles Correa who is no more with us.”
Stating that the health services in the state had collapsed, Kamat said that the BJP government during its tenure had done nothing to carry forward the facilities such as 108 ambulance services, South Goa district hospital and health vans.
“This government is playing with the health of the common people. Their priorities are totally different. Miramar-Dona Paula concrete road is a priority, third Mandovi bridge is a priority then the District Hospital in South Goa,” he stated.
Kamat further accusing the BJP government of doing injustice to the downtrodden by imposing the minimum qualification norm as SSC. “During my tenure as chief minister my government provided so many jobs such as line helper, assistant line helper, agricultural attendant, etc which do not require SSC as the qualification. We will revoke the decision as soon as we form the government,” he added.
Ravi Naik questioned the double standards of Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party’s MLAs. He said “Sudin Dhavalikar, Deepak Dhavalikar and Lavoo Mamledar were present in the Legislative Assembly when the amendment to the tenancy act was tabled. Why did you not oppose the move? You didn’t even stage a walkout. And now you are claiming that you would revoke the amendment to tenancy act,” he stated.
