Additional district and sessions judge, South Goa, has granted anticipatory bail to Marcus Furtado, Alban Rocha and Gregario Furtado against whom Maina Curtorim police have registered an offence related to allegedly forming unlawful assembly and damaging property at Dicarpale. The court heard arguments and later ordered that the trio be released on bail of Rs 20,000 with one surety in the like amount in the event of their arrest.
The alleged accused have been directed by the court to report at the police station for four days.
Police said that, on May 3, Viraj Naik, PSI, had lodged a complaint on behalf of state that, at Dicarpale, several persons formed unlawful assembly and in furtherance to their common object, armed with deadly weapons, allegedly criminally trespassed into a bar, abused its owner in filthy language, pelted stones on his house, bar premises and vehicles parked near the bar.
Further they also allegedly pelted stones on police and public members, thereby causing injuries to three policemen.
The mob also allegedly obstructed police while discharging their lawful duty, threatened them with dire consequences, damaged a vehicle bearing registration number GA-07-K-2582, belonging to Gunjikar family, and also set fire to their Yamaha motorcycle bearing registration number GA-02/Q-7776 and blocked highway proceeding from Margao to Quepem.
Maina Curtorim police have also registered another case under sections 143, 147, 148, 452, 427, 504, 506, 338, 436, 186, 332, 353, 336 readwith 149 of IPC and section 8(b) of National Highway Act.
It may also be recalled that the court also granted conditional bail to Francis
Fernandes and Avinash Gunjikar, owner of a bar arrested by Maina Curtorim police for alleged murder attempt on Jaison Valles, 27, a football player.
The court, after hearing arguments, had ordered to release them on the conditional bail of Rs 25000 each with one surety in the like amount and also directed them to report to the police for seven days. Maina Curtorim police have registered the offence against them under sections 341, 307, 427, 506 readwith 34 of IPC.
According to the prosecution, on May 3, an offence was registered based on a complaint from Jaison Valles, of Dicarpale. As per his complaint on May 2 at Dicarpale, Gunjikar and Francis with their common intention allegedly restrained the complainant and his cousin brothers and abused them in filthy words.
Further they had also allegedly assaulted the complainant with a hockey stick, thereby attempting to commit murder. Police said that they also allegedly damaged a Yamaha motorcycle bearing registration number GA-08-AJ-5436 used by the complainant’s cousin brother. Gunjikar and Francis were arrested in the above alleged crime.
