Stating that his decision to support the Bharatiya Janata Party so as to form government in the state has been vindicated, as Congress, which was talking about giving a stable government to Goans, has failed to keep its flock together, cabinet minister and Goa Forward Party leader Vijai Sardesai Friday proclaimed that he will transform himself from villain to hero through his actions.

Speaking to this daily, Sardesai said that many people made him a villain for supporting BJP instead of Congress. “During the floor test in the assembly, NCP MLA Churchill Alemao supported the government, and Congress MLA Vishwajit Rane has resigned.

This clearly shows that there is no stability within the Congress party and in such a situation, how could they have provided a stable government for the next five years?” he questioned. He said that his stand to support the BJP has been vindicated. “Thus, I will transform my image from that of a villain, created by some people, to a hero in the coming days,” he said.

On the resignation of former Congress MLA from Valpoi Vishwajit Rane, Sardesai said, “I won’t be unhappy if Vishwajit joins the cabinet and I have no problem with it. However, the decision in this regard should be taken by the Chief Minister, not me,” he said adding that he has always had a good relationship with the former Valpoi MLA.

Sardesai pointed out that there is no unity in Congress and the leaders of that party cannot remain outside government, as power is oxygen for them and to cover their ‘incapability,’ they have been blaming him.

The Goa Forward Party leader also said that he had a conversation with All India Congress Committee vice president Rahul Gandhi regarding formation of alliance to form government. “On March 11 night, I spoke to Rahul Gandhi over Goa desk in-charge Digvijay Singh’s mobile phone,” he said. However, he did not reveal what he spoke.
