PILERNE
The delay in payment of Rs 22 lakh infrastructure tax to the TCP department has held up work on commercial complex, which is the second phase of the Pilerne football ground project.
Pilerne panchayat had placed a proposal before the government to construct a football ground and a commercial complex with shops to be allotted to the farmers who have parted their fields for the project.
The residents had raised the issue of the ground, which is under construction, and the commercial complex at the gram sabha. They had pointed out that the height of the ground needed to be raised above the road level.
Speaking to this daily, sarpanch of Pilerne Amarnath Govekar said that “the ground is nearing completion and only the turf is to be laid. The spectator stands are completed; there will also be a jogger’s track, which is under construction.”
He said that the work on the second phase of the project could not be taken up due to non-payment of infrastructure tax that is needed to be paid to the town and country department and the amount is quite huge, that is, Rs 22 lakh.
The second phase of the commercial complex, he said, will have shops that will be allotted to the farmers who have given their fields for the project, the village panchayat ghar, a mini hall for gram sabhas, a bal bhavan, air conditioned community hall with a capacity of 900 people.
