Probe reveals drug case accused was frequent traveller from UK to Goa

PANAJI: David Johnson (46), a British national, arrested in a drug case was a frequent traveller to Goa and smuggled chemical drugs from UK to Goa, the police probe has revealed.

Referring to the modus operandi of Johnson, police said that chemical drugs such as MDMA was rolled into a silver paper which was then packed in a condom and inserted into rectum while other drugs such as LSD, ecstasy tablets and DMT (in liquid form) were packed in a medicinal box pretending it to be medicines. According to police it appears that Johnson got away from the airports with the drugs easily.

The smuggled chemical drugs such MDMA, LSD, DMT were sold to drug peddlers here in Goa, informed police. According to the police, Johnson is also a drug user and has admitted that he smuggled drugs to Goa as he needed money to meet his expenses and also had to send money to her mother back home.

It may be recalled that Anti Narcotic Cell (ANC) of the Goa police this week busted an organised drug racket involving two Indian and one foreign national (British). Drugs worth over Rs 23 lakh were seized in three different raids. Apart from Johnson police also arrested Yusuf Mohammad native of Chennai and Ganesh Pondir. NT

A native of Himachal Pradesh (all are in police custody).

According to the police, Mohammad a drug user cum peddler used to purchase drugs from Johnson and Pondir, both are said to be main drugs suppliers. While Johnson is said to be main supplier of chemical drugs, the other accused Pondir is said to be the main source for supply of charas to drug peddlers here in Goa.

“We have successfully busted the nexus of drugs peddler-supplier racket. The probe is on to ascertain whether there are any more persons associated with these accused,” said ANC, SP, Umesh Gaonkar.
