Ram Navami celebrated with religious fervour

 

PANAJI: Ram Navami, a festival that celebrates the birth of Lord Rama, was celebrated across the state on Tuesday. It is the first festival celebrated after Gudi Padwa.

Rama was born to king Dasharatha and Kaushalya. Rama is said to be the seventh avatar of Lord Vishnu.

The festival was celebrated with great enthusiasm followed by cultural and religious activities.

People visited temples and celebrated Ram Navami in state as in other parts of India. Some devotees read Ram Katha, underwent fasting and also participated in bhajan and performed pooja.

Idol of Lord Rama was placed in cradle, decorated with flowers. This was done at 12 noon as it is believed that Lord Rama was born at this time. This was especially done by married women.

The temple of Lord Rama at Partagal Math in Canacona taluka is one of the prominent temples where Ram Navami is celebrated with people from all over Goa attending
