PANAJI: The state unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party will honour national president of the party Amit Shah and Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar at a special programme to be held at the Campal ground in the city on Sunday at 5 p. m.
Minister for Road Transport and Highways, and Shipping Nitin Gadkari and Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu will also remain present at the grand event to be attended by 25,000 people, including party workers, and supporters of the BJP.
Shah and Parrikar are being felicitated for handling the post-state assembly election results phase tactfully, leading to the formation of the BJP government in Goa.
The cabinet ministers and the BJP legislators, besides state president of the BJP Vinay Tendulkar and South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar are also expected to attend the function.
Meanwhile, former MLA of Valpoi Vishwajit Rane, who joined the BJP recently, is expected to be inducted in the state cabinet soon. The government will also allocate various corporations to the BJP MLAs, next week.
Panaji MLA Sidharth Kuncalienkar along with Taleigao BJP Mandal president Dattaprasad Naik on Saturday checked the preparedness at the venue ahead of felicitation programme.
“We are all set for the function where Goa BJP will recognise and acknowledge the contribution of its national president of the party which led to formation of government in four states,” said Kuncalienkar.
He said that stage, sound, lights and chairs are all put in place and requested people to cooperate with the security officials and BJP’s programme co-ordinators in managing the parking.
