Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar has said that the official announcement on the induction of Dabolim MLA Mauvin Godinho into the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will be made by the party president. He also disclosed that the official announcement into allocation of BJP ticket to Godinho will be made only ahead of assembly election with the consent of the party leaders.
Parsekar was speaking to the media in Dabolim after launching of beautification work of the Vaddem lake, which is estimated to cost Rs 12.40 crore. Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza, Dabolim MLA Godinho, Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida, Mormugao Municipal Council chairperson Deepak Naik, deputy chairperson Shashikant Parab, chief officer Deepali Naik, member secretary of Goa State Urban Development Agency Elvis Gomes, Chicolna-Bogmalo sarpanch Laxman Kavlekar, Chicalim sarpanch Prajyoti Kudalkar, parish priest of St Andrew’s Church Rev Fr Gabriel Coutinho, MMC councillors Kritesh Gaonkar, Krishna Salkar, Gaurish Mardolkar and others were also present.
Parsekar said that the declaration made by Godinho on contesting the forthcoming assembly election on BJP ticket just shows the trust he has in BJP. He also praised St Andrew’s Church for issuing NOC for the beautification of Vaddem lake.
Deputy Chief Minister D’Souza highlighted that the BJP in its four years regime in the state concentrated on all-round development adding, “The BJP has specially concentrated in various fields like education, health, agriculture, sports and even implementing various schemes.”
Godinho accused Congress of bringing casinos into the state and also for mining scam by the fly-by-night operators during the regime of Congress government. He also accused the Congress government of failure to bring developmental projects during decades of its government in the state.
