Mauvin, Vishwajit likely to be inducted into cabinet tomorrow

PANAJI: The expansion of the Manohar Parrikar-led state cabinet is likely to be held on April 12, wherein former Valpoi MLA Vishwajit Rane and Dabolim MLA Mauvin Godinho are likely to be inducted as ministers.

Presently, there are ten ministers in the state cabinet including the Chief Minister in the BJP-led alliance government, in which three ministers are from BJP, three from Goa Forward Party, two from MGP and two independent legislators.

Sources said that the expansion of the cabinet is likely to take place on April 12 at the Raj Bhavan.

When contacted, Godinho, however, said that he has not received any intimation about his induction into the cabinet so far.

Meanwhile, BJP national president Amit Shah held a meeting with the party’s MLAs Sunday late evening in government circuit house at Altinho, Panaji, where he told them that since this is an alliance government, the party MLAs should be ready to sacrifice, as they want to complete the five-year term of the government without any hurdles. Vishwajit, who recently joined BJP, also attended the meeting, whereas Mapusa MLA and Minister for Urban Development Francis D’Souza skipped the meeting.

Sources also said that Shah categorically advised the BJP MLAs that they should not act in a way wherein alliance partners will get hurt. He said that they should fully concentrate on the development of their constituencies.
