Ban on govt recruitments to be lifted by month-end

PANAJI: The state government has decided to lift the ban on recruitment of government staff which was imposed by the erstwhile government headed by Laxmikant Parsekar in November 2016, by the end of this month.

Coming out with the information on Wednesday, the Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar told media persons that he has already given instruction to lift the ban in educational institutes like appointment of teaching staff in schools and colleges besides doctors, nurses and laboratory technicians in government medical institutions.

He further said that the order in this regard will be issued by Monday, adding that grant-in-aid educational institutions can take up recruitment process, but they will have to wait for the official order.

As far as rest of the departments are concerned, the Chief Minister informed that he is examining the issue of other departments on a case-to-case basis, pointing out that as per the requirement of the concerned department, he will sort out the issue.

“I can assure that by the end of this month, all job-oriented issues will be sorted out by the government,” Parrikar noted.

It may be recalled that in November 2016, ahead of the assembly polls 2017, the state government had banned recruitments in all government departments as well as government-aided bodies, so as to enable smoother implementation of the Seventh Pay Commission recommendations.

“In order to ensure that there is sufficient fund for payment of enhanced salaries and pension and implementation of recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission is carried out in a smooth manner; it is required to put a halt to all recruitment processes in the government departments as well as government-aided institutions,” an office memorandum issued by the personnel department on November 22, 2016, had stated.
