3 arrested, stolen valuables worth Rs 11.30 lakh recovered

VASCO: Vasco police, on Saturday, informed that they have arrested three thieves,  involved in various  theft cases, and  the dacoity reported some couple of months back at Ranghavi Estate,  Issorcim, and recovered from them valuables worth Rs 11.30 lakh.

Addressing a press conference at the Vasco police station late Saturday evening, deputy superintendent of police Vasco Lawrence D’Souza and Vasco PI Nolasco Raposo  informed that Aslam Kaligar (21), a resident of Fakir Galli, Shantinagar, has  been arrested for his involvement in the case of dacoity, which was reported at Ranghavi Estate, Issorcim. and various other theft cases that were reported in Vasco and other parts of the state and even in the neighboring states.

The police said that a police team raided the house of Kaligar, located at Fakir Galli, Shantinagar on Thursday night upon a tip off and recovered 250 gram of gold ornaments, around 1.1 kilogram of silver biscuits and ornaments, 18 mobile phones, 5 power banks, 7 wrist watches, 2 cameras, 1 handycam, 2 laptops, and 1 DVD player, all worth Rs 10 lakh.

The police said that “with the arrest of Kaligar, we  have cracked the dacoity case,  which was reported at Ranghavi Estate, Issorcim.”

The police said that  Kaligar was produced before the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Vasco, and added he has been remanded to 5-day police custody.

The police said that the accused has confessed to his involvement in various cases.

The police said that they have also arrested Ashpak Kadul and Maruti Wadar, accomplices of Sikandar Shaikh alias Chickoo, in connection with theft case that was reported at the house of Ana Ansari at Alto-Dabolim.

The police said that Shaikh, a mastermind of thefts  reported in various parts of Vasco has been arrested by them earlier, and added that he is also involved in the dacoity case that was reported at Issorcim.

Ana Ansari’s  house was burgled  on December 2, 2016, and 2 gold finger rings, 2 gold bracelets, 7 pairs of gold earrings, 2 gold chains with pendants, 2 gold necklaces, 1 DSLR camera and 1 gold mangalsutra, all worth Rs 3,51,200 were stolen.

The police  said that they have recovered the property worth Rs 1.30 lakh, of the total Rs 3,51,200 property stolen from  the Alto-Dabolim house, and also  seized an Aviator scooter, bearing registration number GA-06-Q-8353, which was used for committing the theft.

Further investigation into the both cases is in progress under the supervision of superintendent of police, South, Chandan Choudhary.
