Electrical equipment and other material were gutted in a fire that broke out in the conference hall of Ravindra Bhavan complex at Baina on Wednesday.
As per available information from Vasco fire personnel, the fire erupted at around 10.45 a.m when the staff of the Ravindra Bhavan were preparing for a meeting which was arranged in the conference hall. The Ravindra Bhavan staff noticed some sparks and immediately called the officials and the technical team at the site.
The fire broke out due to an electric short circuit, it was informed. The Ravindra Bhavan staff used their internal fire safety equipment to douse the flames. They intimated the Vasco fire personnel who rushed to the site and brought the fire under control, thereby
avoiding further loss and damage to the conference hall.
Sub officer V S Bhatkar attached to the Vasco fire station disclosed that the electrical equipment and other material including the PoP sheets, grass wool and sponge lying on the rooftop were damaged in the fire.
The fire personnel were yet to ascertain the loss. However, the Ravindra Bhavan authorities claimed that the loss could be around Rs 50,000.
