PANAJI: Governor Mridula Sinha has summoned a day-long special session of the state legislative assembly on May 9, next month, for the state government to adopt the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill, enacted by the central government.
The particular session could also witness ratification of few ordinances, which were issued by the government after the budget session of the assembly, with the approval of the state
cabinet.
States like Rajasthan, Bihar and Telangana have already passed the particular Bill pertaining to the major tax reform in the country, which is expected to be rolled out from July 1, 2017. Assam, too, is likely to have a special session of its assembly to pass the Bill by the second week of May.
The particular Bill has the provision for levy and collection of tax on intra-state supply of goods or services or both by the individual states.
