In view of the recent murder where the charred body of a woman was found at Bamon waddo, Siolim, villagers at the Siolim-Marna gram sabha demanded intensifying police patrolling along with streetlights at an open ground in Siolim.

The gram sabha was presided by sarpanch Alba Sequeira along with panchayat secretary Govind Khalap.

Gilbert D’Souza demanded that the panchayat should improve the lighting near the open ground to avoid any untoward incident in the area. He also demanded more police patrolling in the village.

Another issue which was raised was the long pending demand of public toilets for people visiting Primary Health Center at Siolim. The villagers claimed that since 2012 the demand has been put before the panchayat to undertake construction of toilets at PHC as patients who visit the health centre are forced to use the toilet in the wards.

Fatima Fernandes raised the issue of water logging in the fields at Marna- Gausawaddo- Sodiem. She said that due to water logging, agricultural activities could not be taken up by the farmers.

The villagers demanded that the panchayat should call for a joint meeting of farmers, water resources and the agriculture department to resolve the issue.

The sarpanch assured the villagers that the panchayat will soon write to the concerned department with regard to water logging in the fields.

Fatima Fernandes raised concern over the construction activities in panchayat areas and said that the village is under forest cover, and despite the same, lot of construction activities are being undertaken which is allowed by the panchayat.
