Students worried over certificates as mamlatdar staff busy with VP poll work

VASCO: A lot of students, with their results having been declared earlier, are making a beeline at Mormugao mamlatdar office these days for obtaining residence and caste certificates; however, they are finding it inconveniencing to obtain the certificates due to non-availability of staff including talathis and mamlatdar, who are presently busy with work related to panchayat elections.

During a visit to the mamlatdar office, located on the ground-floor of Mormugao municipal building in Vasco, this reporter saw that a lot of candidates, aspiring to contest the panchayat elections from Mormugao taluka, were in the office to file their nomination papers accompanied by their supporters.

On Thursday, SSC results will be declared and number of students wanting to obtain the particular certificates for admission purposes will only increase at the office and with the staff being busy with election work, it looks like the students will have to be ready to face inconvenience.

There has been a demand from the students and parents that some staff at the office be kept for attending to citizens who come to apply for certificates and various other work.

“We, the students fraternity from Vasco, would like to request the Revenue Minister Rohan Khaunte to deploy additional staff for convenience of the students who apply for residence and caste certificates at Mormugao mamlatdar office,” said a student, who faced inconvenience in availing of residence certificate.
