CM, TCP Minister likely to attend presentation on new CCP complex

PANAJI: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar along with the Minister for Town and Country Planning Vijai Sardesai is expected to attend a presentation, at the Corporation of the City of Panaji, next week, pertaining to the proposed new building of the CCP Commercial Complex. The complex will also house the headquarters of the city corporation.

The City Mayor Surendra Furtado said that the new CCP building, which will come up in place of the entire Praça do Comércio building, would be taken up for construction by the Goa State Urban Development Agency (GSUDA), and is expected to cost Rs 40 crore to Rs 50 crore. “The construction of this building will take two-and-a-half years,” he added.

It may be recalled that Furtado had recently called upon the Chief Minister, when he informed about this proposed building that would come up in the prime property owned by the corporation, which encompasses entire four street building assortment abutting the 18th June Road, Dr A B Road and the Dr Pandurang Pissurlekar Road.

“The corporation has envisaged the idea of developing the entire CCP Square considering the current obsolete design and redundancy in the structures of the existing building,” the City Mayor had informed Parrikar during the meeting.  “We have invited M/s Anand Kulkarni & Associates, having their professional architectural practice at Panaji to provide us with preliminary renderings of our vision, which they have obliged, and provided us with stunning visuals of the proposed CCP Commercial Complex,” Furtado told this daily.

The new complex, besides the CCP headquarters, will have a clock tower and a town

hall.
