The monsoon session of the state legislative assembly is expected to be held in July.
Coming out with this information, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar informed the media on Monday that the monsoon session of the assembly is likely to be held in the third week of July.
“We will fix the exact date after considering the dates of the elections to elect the President of India as well as the Rajya Sabha member from Goa,” he added.
The main agenda of the monsoon session of the assembly is to pass the state budget for the year 2017-18.
Parrikar, who also holds the finance portfolio had sought vote on account from the House, with the full-fledged budget proposed to be passed during the monsoon session of the assembly.
The government, in March, earlier this year had presented a revenue surplus budget of Rs 202.48 crore for the financial year 2017-18, with the gross budget size estimated at Rs 16,027.01 crore.
Speaking further, the Chief Minister said that the government will withdraw Section 19 of the 2014 amendment to the Agriculture Tenancy Act.
“In principal, I have cleared the concept and will issue an Ordinance for the same,” he informed, adding that if the legal formalities of this Ordinance are not completed before the forthcoming assembly session then the amendment to the particular legislation would be withdrawn during the monsoon session of the House.
This will transfer tenancy cases back to the office of the mamlatdar from the court of civil judge senior division.
