Buckets greet students at Mormugao Municipal HS

The first day of school for students of Mormugao Municipal high school, Vasco witnessed leaking rooftops, which forced teachers to conduct regular classes in the verandah of the school on Monday.
The Mormugao municipal high school is run by the Mormugao municipal council (MMC) for the last several years. It is the only municipal school run by any civic body in the state.
The leakage is an annual phenomenon for students of Mormugao municipal high school, due to which parents have raised a serious concern over the leakage in class rooms.
When contacted school chairperson Kritesh Gaonkar disclosed that the incident of leakage in various classrooms was brought to the notice of the MMC chairperson Deepak Naik and MMC chief officer Deepali Naik wherein they have disclosed that a proposal pertaining to the repair of rooftops has been sent to the government, but it will take some time to get the sanction of required funds.
He disclosed that the management of the high school would take temporary measures to stop the leakage by covering the affected class rooms with tarpaulin.
When contacted MMC chief officer Naik disclosed that the Mormugao municipality is facing a financial crunch and due to which the municipal authorities are having a tough time to repair the rooftops. She however said that immediate repair works will be undertaken to stop the leakages.
