Revenue Minister Rohan Khaunte has said that he will write to the Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, seeking inquiry into Goa Industrial Development Corporation scams during the tenure of Babu Kavlekar as chairman.
Addressing media persons, Khaunte stated that he is ready to face an inquiry but added that probe should be ordered into the alleged revenue loss, allocation of plots and land during the tenure of Kavlekar as GIDC chief. Khaunte said that Kavlekar should desist from making such baseless statements as they do not suit a person who holds the post of Leader of Opposition, adding, “This government’s policy on corruption is crystal clear that there will be zero tolerance to it.”
Earlier in the day, Kavlekar had said that the role of the revenue minister be probed in wrongdoings vis-à-vis the bribery raid by the Anti-Corruption Bureau on Tuesday adding, “I am not saying that the minister is linked to the case but there should be a probe.”
Khaunte said, “We have already started cleansing departments and various steps have been initiated so that the common man is not troubled at any stage. Stern action should be taken against such corrupt people so that in future others should desist from such acts. We have already started cleansing the system and made provision for availing caste, income and other residence certificates online to bring transparency in the system and reduce corruption.”
He said, “Our aim and objective is very clear that there will zero tolerance to corruption. We are telling the people not to involve in such crimes and the practice of taking and giving bribe should be stopped and the government will take stern action against anybody involved in corruption.’’
