BAMBOLIM-CURCA: A meeting of heads of institutions at Cujira Integrated Education Complex, education director, Deputy Superintendent of Police (traffic) and others was held to find a solution to the traffic chaos being witnessed in and around the complex.

The entrance area of the complex on Monday had witnessed utter chaos as schools reopened for the new academic year.

The traffic jam caused several students and staff to report to their schools more than half an hour late.

On Thursday,  it has been decided to change the school timings by 5 minutes to ease traffic congestion, and ask the parents to park their vehicles at the SAG athletics stadium parking zone.

Schools start as early as 7.40 am and close at 1.25 pm.  Nearly, 5,000 students are studying at the complex and the number would increase in the coming months.

From Friday, Hedgewar school besides higher secondary will follow timings from 7.40 am to 1.25 pm, Dempos will follow timings from 7.45 am to 1.35 pm, Mushtifond High School will follow timings from 7.50 am to 1.40 pm, while Rosary High School will begin from 8 am and close at 1.45 pm.

The director of education Gajanand Bhat had convened the meeting to decide on the staggered timings for the

schools.

The police have appealed to the parents to park their vehicles at the SAG ground.

The police said that they will ensure that there is no parking on either sides of the road, and added that the teachers are urged to park their vehicles in the respective school premises.

Though parents have welcomed the move,  they said that having staggered timings will not solve the problem unless and until is an alternative to the entry-exit point is

found.
