The Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday indicated that it is ready to contest the state assembly election scheduled in 2017 without any alliance partner, if the situation demands.
The Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) is presently the alliance partner of the BJP-led state government.
Spokesperson of the state unit of BJP and Tivim MLA Kiran Kandolkar addressing a press conference at the city BJP headquarters said that if the BJP goes for an alliance with any political party for the forthcoming state assembly election, then it is certain about winning 26 seats on its own strength, irrespective of how many seats the alliance party wins. “However, in case the alliance does not happen, we are ready to contest the seats in all 40 electoral constituencies,” he added.
Speaking further Kandolkar said that the people linked with BJP, including its alliance partners should not unnecessarily make controversial statements to vitiate the situation.
It may be recalled that Congress MLA from Dabolim Mauvin Godinho had recently made a statement that he would contest the forthcoming state assembly election from the same constituency as a BJP candidate, making MGP president and Minister Factories and Boilers Pandurang ‘Deepak’ Dhavalikar respond that the Dabolim constituency will remain with the MGP, if the MGP-BJP alliance materialises for the 2017 state assembly election.
Dhavalikar, who presently represents Priol constituency, had also maintained that he would contest the forthcoming state assembly election from Shiroda constituency, in case his present constituency is reserved for the Scheduled Tribes (ST).
Kandolkar further said that state chief of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Subhash Velingkar was opposing from the Bharatiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch platform, the government decision to give grants to 100-odd English primary schools because RSS has some ‘complex’ about the particular decision. “Presently, the MoI issue is being discussed between the BJP and the RSS at the highest level and we hope to resolve it soon,” he noted.
Replying to a question, Kandolkar said that most of the private hospitals have no complaints about Deen Dayal Swasthya Seva Yojana, the statewide health insurance scheme. However, only one hospital is dominating the demands as regards increasing the rates for procedures as well as handing over all 447 procedures to private hospitals, instead of the 169 procedures as decided.
The United India Insurance Company Ltd, a company selected by the government to run the scheme in the state, will soon empanel the private hospitals and clinics for providing treatment to the beneficiaries of the scheme.
