VASCO: The Verna police, on Thursday, arrested six persons including four Nepali nationals for their alleged involvement in forming an unlawful assembly and assaulting a youth at Sancoale.
A clash was reported between two groups at Sancoale late Wednesday evening.
The arrested persons were later released on bail. The police said that following a complaint by Mangaldas Naik from Sancoale, Raju
Tejbahadur Rai, Tejprakash Pushkar, Tilak Jagbhir Gha, and Durga Kesi, all Nepali nationals, Amitkumar, a native of Chennai and Amos
Chetri of Darjeling were arrested and later released on bail.
The complainant Naik has mentioned that around 5 to 6 unknown accused with their common object formed an unlawful assembly and assaulted his nephew – Hari Naik at around 11.50 pm, and caused him injuries.
The case has been registered under section 143, 147, 323 read with section 149 of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Meanwhile, another complaint has been lodged by Samuel Williams, a resident of Sancoale, stating that at around 11.55 pm on Wednesday, one unknown accused armed with a sharp object abused his colleague Amos with filthy language, adding the said unknown accused along with around 100 unknown accused with their common intention formed an unlawful assembly and assaulted Amos, thereby causing him injuries. They also damaged furniture and other equipment.
The police in this regard have registered a case under sections 143, 147, 504, 323, 427 read with section 149 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the accused involved in the clash. The Verna police are further investigating the case.
