Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar said that there is no resentment among any of the Bharatiya Janata Party MLAs as regards alleged non-performance by five of his cabinet ministers.
Speaking to the pressmen, on Friday, the Chief Minister said that he had met the BJP MLA from Calangute Michael Lobo over lunch, two days back, and Lobo, who is supposed to be one of the disgruntled BJP legislators as per the media reports, did not say anything about the lack of performance by some state cabinet ministers.
The Chief Minister further stated that closing the Portuguese Consulate in Goa is not a solution to the dual citizenship problem. “I feel that we should educate the people who are surrendering their passports and moving to Portugal as well as other European countries for jobs, without thinking of its repercussions,” he maintained, pointing out that he himself is pained to see long queues of people before the Portuguese Consulate in Goa, who want to leave the country by surrendering their rights.
Lobo, on the other hand, said that he has told the Chief Minister, the state unit of the BJP, as well as the people through the media that situation as regards performance of few BJP ministers needs to improve, so that BJP comes back to power.
“I have nothing personal against any minister, but the fact remains that they need to perform, if we all are to be re-elected at the 2017 state assembly election,” he maintained.
The Calangute MLA also said that the non-performance of few ministers would reflect badly on the upcoming BJP MLAs like him, during the forthcoming state assembly election.
