Moderate to heavy rainfall is expected to hit Goa for the next three days as the southwest monsoon is expected to reach the state within 24 hours. “An upper air cyclonic circulation off east central Arabian Sea has induced fairly widespread moderate to heavy showers over Konkan and Goa. Conditions are favourable for advancement of the southwest monsoon within the next 24 hours in the state and we expect good rains to continue, which will be 10 per cent above normal rainfall,” said India Meteorological Department (IMD) director V K Mini.
The IMD has forecast heavy rains for Saturday as the monsoon is expected to reach the coastal state. “Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at isolated places over Goa for the next three days. Sea will be rough with westerly to south-westerly waves. Fishermen are advised not to go out in the sea during the next 24 hours,” the weather bulletin reads.
