Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) of the directorate of Vigilance has submitted to the government its report on the preliminary inquiry conducted in the alleged disproportionate assets of Quepem MLA Chandrakant ‘Babu’ Kavlekar.
According to the information, the ACB submitted the report to the state government sometime back.
“We have already submitted the preliminary
inquiry report to the government and are waiting for the directions,” said ACB SP Bosco George.
It may be recalled that in 2013, ACB had initiated a preliminary inquiry under disproportionate assets against Kavlekar, the former chairman of the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC). According to the information during the course of inquiry ACB obtained all the data pertaining to Kavlekar’s properties, moveable as well immovable. Later a chartered accountant was appointed to ascertain whether the properties acquired by Kavlekar are within or beyond his known source of income.
ACB probe had revealed that Kavlekar reportedly owned a property (plantation) in Kerala worth crores of rupees. The documents pertaining to the property which were in Malayalam language, have been translated to English, informed ACB officials. ACB through PWD had also evaluated value of his bungalow.
Meanwhile, ACB has received forensic analysis reports of voice samples in three trap cases pertaining to bribery. “The voice samples are positive and in the coming days, charge-sheets will be filed,” informed George. One of the bribery cases involves two field managers of the Goa Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) Dilip Malvankar and Ajit Gaunekar. Both the accused were arrested in August 2015 by the ACB during a raid. Incidentally Malvankar is former Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar’s brother-in-law. The other two bribery cases are pertaining to former Sancoale sarpanch Ramakant Borkar and the then sarpanch of Ucassaim village panchayat Rajesh Dabale.
