CALANGUTE: The feast of St Alex, the patron saint of Calangute village, was celebrated on Sunday with pomp and gaiety by parishioners and people of all walks of life.
The feast mass was celebrated by Sindhudurg diocese Bishop Alwyn Baretto as the main celebrant along with 12 priests.
The priests included Fr Cipriano De Silva parish priest of Calangute, Fr Alex D’Souza parish priest of Parra, Fr Domnic D’Souza, Fr Marcelino De Souza, Fr Querobino Baptista all assistant parish priests of Calangute, Fr Jose Silveira, Fr Kyriel D’Souza and other priests.
In his homily, Fr Kyriel said that we should take the example of St Alex and grow in deep faith. St Alex came from a rich family but he gave up all his wealth to live in poverty. Fr Kyriel said that the devil comes to destroy the good work when everyone works fruitfully for the small Christian community.
In his message, Fr Cipriano De Silva parish priest said that villagers of Calangute need to stay united and bear true witness for Christ.
