CCP to reject proposal on AMRUT projects

PANAJI: The Council of the Corporation of the City of Panaji will soon pass a resolution and send it to the Union ministry of urban development, as regards rejecting a proposal worth Rs 37.42 crore and pertaining to city developmental projects to be taken up under the AMRUT (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation) Mission, since council members have been completely bypassed by  CCP commissioner Deepak Desai while sending the particular proposal to the state department of urban development.The state department of urban development is expected to soon forward this proposal to the Union ministry of urban development.

Coming out with this information, City mayor Surendra Furtado said  the CCP Commissioner along with city MLA Sidharth Kunkalienkar has placed Rs 37.42 crore worth project, including three proposals before the department of urban development to receive administrative approval as well as approval from the expenditure finance committee, under the AMRUT Mission, for Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation.

“The CCP councillors have not been informed about the same,” he maintained.

The three proposals in the particular project submitted to the department of urban development are about beautification and ‘pedestrianisation’ of Café Bhosle Square, beautification of beachfront promenade at Miramar, and rejuvenation of Mandovi river promenade from Children’s Park to Youth Hostel Miramar, amounting Rs 7.70 crore, Rs 14.61 crore and Rs 15.11 crore, respectively.

Furtado also said the CCP council is the highest body at the CCP and should be informed about each and every project of the Corporation.
