The Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education will announce on May 12 the result of the Higher Secondary School Certificate examination conducted by it from February 29 to March 22, earlier this year.
Coming out with this information, Goa Board chairman J R Rebello told ‘The Navhind Times’ that the result of the Secondary School Certificate examination, which had been held from April 1 to April 20, 2016, would be declared between May 20 and May 25.
“In fact, the paper correction work of these examinations is almost complete,” he added observing that the results of both the exams would be announced as scheduled, subject to the conditions such as availability of power supply and so on.
Rebello said the Goa Board for the first time has employed computerised correction for the answer papers of SSC as well as HSSC summer examinations.
“As of now, the computerised correction of answer sheets has proceeded smoothly,” he stated, maintaining that the outcome of the same however, would be known through feedback received from teachers and students, once the SSC and the HSSC results are declared.
Tata Consultancy Services has been employed by the Goa Board to carry out computerised correction of the answer papers for SSC as well as HSSC examinations. As this is the first year of implementation, the computerised corrections are done in the case of only half of the subjects; the papers of remaining subject being corrected manually.
The Goa Board chairman also said that this year, there would be no change in grading as well as marking pattern for SSC and HSSC examinations, and the same would be as earlier.
Incidentally, the Goa Board has recently revised the ranking system – replacing ranks with ‘absolute grading’ in all subjects for both academic as well as school assessment subjects – for Class IX and XI students, so as to make the grading pattern uniform with that in force for SSC and HSSC examinations. The same would be implemented from the academic year 2016-17.
