Driver loses control of car, rams into KTC bus near Vasco

Eight persons were injured after a Maruti Swift rent-a-car rammed into a KTC bus near the St Jacinto Island on Sunday morning.
The accident was reported at around 10.30 am when the speeding car was heading towards Dabolim airport from Cortalim, while the KTC bus was proceeding towards Panaji from Vasco. The impact was such that the drivers of both the vehicles lost control due to which the ill-fated car landed into a roadside ditch.
Three occupants, out of a total of five from the Maruti Swift car were injured while five passengers travelling from the KTC bus sustained minor injuries. Five passengers from KTC bus were discharged from hospital after administering first aid treatment, while three occupants of the Maruti Swift car were shifted to GMC Hospital at Bambolim after referring them to the Cottage Hospital at Chicalim.
Both the vehicles were damaged and the estimates of the loss are yet to be ascertained. The Verna police who are investigating the case are likely to register an offence against the driver of the Maruti Swift car for driving the vehicle in a rash and negligent manner. The conditions of the occupants who were referred to GMC Hospital are reported to be stable and that they are out of danger.
